Hangman by Senior Games, recommended app for people living with dementia

The aim of the game is to guess letters in order to spell out the word the computer has selected. When the player incorrectly guesses, the computer automatically draws one line of the gallows. The objective is to guess the word before the stick man is hung. This app has a clear clean background, with minimal distractions. There is clear audio and animated feedback for both correct and incorrect answers. The app currently does not offer the choice of different difficulty levels nor the ability to choose word categories. Users have the option to use hints to reveal individual letters using tokens that are earned by winning games or bought using in-app purchases. Some notable features of this app are the ability for user to select from six different languages as well as a a multiplayer option.

The basic version of the app includes adverts that are present on screen during gameplay and a full-screen advert that is also displayed after each game. For this reason, our recommendation is to purchase the ‘remove ads’ feature from the home screen. Alternatively, these can be removed by simply turning off the Wifi connection.

Tip: In-App Purchases do require a password before completion, but they can be completely restricted on your device, if preferred. For information on how to do this for an Android tablet, read our step-by-step guide.

To access the settings, tap the wheel icon along the bottom of the home page. Here, we recommend the following (in bold):

For multiplayer option, select 2 Players from the main menu screen, type in a desired word for the other user to guess and press play.
